SHOES!!!

So I have officially created a monster! My 1.5 year old loooooves shoes. These particular shoes she picked out herself and would not take them off so naturally I had to buy them. What can I say like mother like daughter, we both need our shoes!

Appendectomy!!!!

This was one of the longest days ever!!!! We started at 7am Friday trying to get ready for school. I woke Brandon up and carried him to the couch like I always do, then made him breakfast. As he started to get up to move to the table he complained about his side hurting and wouldn't walk so I picked him up thinking it was one of those days and he was still tired! After he was done eating he went to the bathroom and could barely walk there then REFUSED to walk back to the couch. This is when I knew for sure something wasn't quite right! I picked him up, carried him to the couch and there he lay motionless because he was afraid to move. The only position that was comfortable for him was in the fetal position.

It is now 8:00am and I have decided that I obviously have to take him into the ER because he never acts like this. He is actually quite under-dramatic(When he broke his elbow we waited almost a whole day before I took him in.) So I quickly showered and got Isa up and fed then out the door. We got the the ER by 9am and fortunately it was right before the huge rush of people. After the Dr. asked all their questions and ran a few tests they suspected an appendicitis but it wasn't showing up on any of them. So we actually had then stumped, it was like we were a mini episode of "House".(HAHA)

Finally around 7pm they decided to do a cat scan and that is where we finally had proof of a busted appendix. So we were then instructed to wait until 9pm so the surgeon could get to him and then we would be wheeled up to surgery. They actually didn't bring us up to surgery until 10pm! Yep that is right, we were in the actual ER from 9am until 10pm and we still were not done with our hospital visit.

The crazy thing is once Brandon was in surgery everything went really fast. The surgery lasted about an hour with the recovery time, then we were moved up to pediatrics. Both Dave and I stayed the night in the hospital room, so yeah neither one of us really slept. The surgeon was great, he even drew a little dog on Brandon's bandage! Brandon's recovery was very quick so we were released from the hospital Saturday afternoon.

The best part about the whole thing was when Brandon wasn't loopy anymore from the anesthesia Sat morning he asked me when they were going to take out his appendix. :) I guess that is a great sign that the surgeon was awesome.

Overall it was a very long and stressful day but Brandon was very brave and only complained when he had to drink this nasty water for the cat scan. He is such a trooper. Also my friend Janet was kind enough to take Isa overnight for us. She was also AWESOME!!!! Thanks Janet! :)

NASCAR

Nascar made its return to S. California and was just a few hours or so down the freeway, they were also offering discounted tickets for military, so we jumped on the opportunity to go. We had great seats, we were only 6 rows up and right in front of the pits! Brandon favorite part was for sure the pits but I loved it when the cars all started back up after there had been a yellow flag! People always say races are really loud but it is definitely one of those things you don't realize how loud until you are there. We had earplugs in and still couldn't talk to each other until after the cars zoomed by us. The feeling you get in your chest when they zoom by is indescribable. I was an awesome day!!!!!

P.S. Kyle Busch ended up winning the race in the last few laps!

Chow Time!

These were just too cute to pass up! Apparently doing this with your spaghetti is inherited because I have very similar pictures of Brandon doing the same thing at the same age. She was also cheesing it up big time for the camera. You tell her to say 'cheese' and she gives a big smile and squints her eyes!!!! WAY TO CUTE!!!

More Tide Pools

Yes we went to the tide pools again! We love it here, it's close, free, and always lots to see! This time Isa was big enough to walk around by herself and didn't try to eat the sand. Brandon is such a great big brother he follows her around and tries to stop her from touching anything, it is really cute! We saw all the usually things but this time one of my friends came along with her daughter and they spent most of the time trying to find a baby octopus! They didn't find one but apparently Janet usually finds one so hopefully next time we will get lucky!

Bowling

I took the kids bowling a while back and they loved it! They are complete naturals, Brandon almost beat everyone, he is pretty good, and Isa was picking up her own ball and throwing it down the ramp all by herself, she thought she was pretty cool. All in all it was a great day with the family!

Road Trip

Another one of the many road trips we have taken, we brought Jax this time so every seat was taken. We were squeezed in pretty tight but the kids didn't seem to mind at all, they were even being extra goofy! :)

Xmas Photos 2009

I tried to go cheap this year and take my own Xmas photos. They turned out okay but I think they could have been better. The kids weren't really cooperating but I did get a great one of them giving each other kisses! I love it! :)

Tree Decorating

Every year getting & decorating our tree has always been a fun family event. After we search the tree lots for about an hour or so and we find the perfect tree we bring it home and Dada cuts the bottom so it fits in the stand. He gets it so it is perfectly straight and sturdy in the stand I get to work putting on the lights(Although Brandon was a great help this year, I didn't have to walk around the tree.) After the hard parts are done then the kids get to work putting on all the ornaments. The very last thing is, of course, the angel. Every year Dave holds Brandon up so he can put the finishing touch on the tree. I think the tree was perfect this year!

Santa Visiting!

So it has been awhile since I last posted something, so I figured I would post something that you are certain to laugh at!

At Brandon's school this year they had a Xmas party & guess who came to visit. Brandon was really excited to see him and so was Isa until I actually put her in his lap! Then instead of taking her off immediately I took a picture because I figure everyone needs at least one of these! :)
